Corplast is committed to selecting and promoting the use of bio-based and recycled materials with the aim of slowing down – or totally eliminating – our reliance on fossil fuels* and lightening the ecological footprint of materials already used in production.
* The problem is not the fossil source itself, but – instead – its slow regenerability (in fact, we are talking about a non-renewable source).
On the other hand, for bio-based or fossil-sourced materials we need to understand whether their circularity is short- or medium-term (concerning, respectively, ‘recyclable’ and ‘biodegradable’ materials) – or whether they are, instead, by-products or non-recyclable waste that require drastic and uncircular solutions such as incineration (waste-to-energy) or slow biodegradation (landfilling).
Beyond oil, there are potentially unlimited new resources (pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled materials and bio-based materials) that are traceable and circular, but it is important to understand the technological limits of sustainability and accept the trade-offs.
Today, not all sustainable materials are available with the technical or aesthetic characteristics we seek, but we need sustainability to be accessible to all.
